First Steps to Success Seminar...my perspective

It's Monday, the day after a good, productive weekend. The First Steps to Success seminar was quite effective...I got the jumpstart I sorely needed. If you are in business for yourself or work for someone else, you need to build and develop relationships with people in order to succeed. It's that simple...seriously. And get this, helping other people to succeed is one of the most rewarding events in life.... imagine how your own children, sibling, friend, business partner or someone who was once a stranger can benefit from success. Dani Johnson showed us how the universal laws apply to success in such a down-to-earth, get real fashion.

If you desire to step up your business, your relationships with the people in your life, to expand your horizons, I highly recommend Dani Johnson!

Thanks to my friend Danisha for the recommendation.

Now I'm reinforcing what I learned (or re-learned) by reading "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey. If you haven't read it, do so. So many people who have excelled in their goals have recommended this book.

In Need of a Jumpstart

Today I registered for Dani Johnson's First Steps to Success seminar that will take place this weekend here in Washington, DC. My friend Danisha, who I met at a Warm Spirit meeting, has been telling me about this seminar for over 6 months and encouraged me to attend. Money is tight but I took the plunge because I need a jumpstart.

I've been stuck in neutral for quite some time. I don't like being in neutral...I enjoy being productive and living life to its fullest. I let myself get overwhelmed by stuff, listening to naysayers who are in their own little rut and living in Excuses Land.

After the historical presidential election, I made a decision to change my circumstances and to lift myself out of Rut Land. The way I see it, Barack Obama was not "supposed" to be President of the United States, but he said "Yes I Can" and he did! If this Black man came from obscurity to the stage of the Democratic National Convention in 2004 to living his dream some four years later...I know I can!

The one thing that this recession has reinforced is that no job is secure and relying on your job as the only source of income is foolhardy. Plus, I truly believe in working one's passion. I am really into self-care and self-pampering...I believe that is so important, especially for women. When we take care of ourselves, inside and out, and look good...we feel good. With beautiful braid and loc-styles, we look good (and the compliments make us feel good).

I want to live my passions! I anticipate good results from this seminar. I'll be back to share about it.

Welcome to Braids by Michelle

Welcome to Braids by Michelle! Here you will find braiding and hair tips, a journal on my braiding experiences, pictures and random musings.

I love to create styles that reflects my clients' inner beauty and personality. I have over 15 years of braiding experience and love what I do. After a hiatus, I am back on the block, braiding, twisting, cornrowing hair and creating wonderful looks.

Follow me on my journey.
